Bite Work

Bite work is very natural for dogs. There are several drives that they dogs work through in bite work, but the images shown here are of a dog in Prey Drive. When these dogs come into puberty or maturity, we wil progress onto different types of bite work that will focus on Defensive Drive that is necessary in Law Enforcement and Protection Work. We use bite work to build Tracking Drive. This is called Tracking Through Drive (TTD).

Bite work can make or break a dog. It is shown to be an enjoyable activity for the dogs that releives stress. This is particularly important after a stressful, or what the dog percives as stressful training session or work day. Bite work at this phase is ONLY performed in Prey Drive. Bite Work performed on inmature animals can destroy further drive and harm the animal (2005 Leerburg, et al.) *Please always consult professionals before performing these types of training.
